About Desmond Lam (蓝志雄教授)
Desmond Lam is an Associate Professor in Hospitality and Gaming Management at the University of Macau (澳门大学) and author of the book "Chopsticks and Gambling".
Desmond holds a PhD (marketing) from the University of Western Australia, MBA from the University of Melbourne, and BEng from the National University of Singapore.
Desmond's main interest lies in the understanding of gaming psychology and behavior, with specialty in Chinese gaming culture, management and policies. He is also interested in hospitality services marketing, customer loyalty, word-of-mounth communication, and cross-cultural management issues.
Desmond has written extensively on gaming-related issues, Chinese in particular. These are featured in premier trade publications like Infinity Gaming Magazine, Casino Journal, Global Gaming Business, Casino Enterprise Management, IGA Magazine, Macau Business, and Inside Asian Gaming as well as top scholarly journals like Annals of Tourism Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Marketing Letters, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Gambling Studies, International Gambling Studies, and Journal of Risk Research. Throughout his academic career, Desmond has taught in various universities including University of Western Australia, Curtin University of Technology (Malaysia), University of South Australia, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has conducted numerous courses at different tertiary levels (diploma, undergraduate, master, and executive) including Chinese gambling culture, casino and gaming management, events marketing, product management, marketing strategy, advanced marketing management, internet marketing, business-to-business marketing, and public relations.
